About Downeast Maine

I am a Real Estate Agent by Trade and Downeaster by Choice.

Let’s be up front about the many misconceptions of Downeast Maine:

We are at “the end of the world” –  I can see Canada from my door step and there is at least another 900 miles until you reach the middle of no where!

“Winters are really harsh and cold” – Well, it’s not for everyone but we have nothing on Northern Maine or our Canadian neighbors.  Typically our sheltered location on the Atlantic shields us from many storms and keeps the temperature pretty reasonable.  Once every 10 years or so we get a “bad one” a couple months of ice and snow…but for those that like adventure it offers great ice fishing, skiing, snowmobiling and skating.  Others “hunker down”, get creative with crafts, catch up on movies, books and writing.  The four seasons truly add a little character to our lives!

“There is nothing to offer in Downeast” – On the contrary… Downeast is untapped beauty at it’s finest with lots to offer.  Perhaps we don’t have the malls and chain restaurants many are accustom to… but we don’t need ’em.  We have friends, family, great co-workers… and that makes for a pretty darn nice pot luck dinner on a Friday Night.  Our local stores are fantastic and what you can’t get there can usually be found at Wal-Mart…All else fails we have the world wide web and overnight shipping at our disposal.  No need to keep up with the Jones’ around here, those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

Any other myths you’d like banished?  Send ’em my way!

This blog will capture the real life, beauty and opportunity in Downeast Maine, in hopes you will join us for a visit, a vacation or a lifetime!

Enjoy!
